Cornerstone Landscape studio exists to partner with home owners and property owners to realize the potential of the landscape, its beauty, and its positive impact in living life.
Our mission statement: To provide landscape design, installation, and horticultural services at the highest level of quality, service, and integrity. To glorify God in all we do. Ephesians 2:19-22.
Cornerstone Landscape Studio loves to emphasize the important, subconscious effect that beautiful spaces have on the soul. God created plants on day three. God created man and woman on day six. God placed us in the garden. God’s first task for us was to tend to the garden. We are all connected to the garden.

Who we are and what we do.
James is first and foremost a follower of Jesus – a gardener following the life of a carpenter.
He is a self-proclaimed plant geek whose passion lies in the melding of art and horticulture. He graduated from the horticulture program at Kansas State University in 2001 while working as a landscape laborer at Blueville nursery in Manhattan. After graduating, James took a position as Landscape Designer at Skinner Garden Store in Topeka where he was employed for 13 years gaining great practical knowledge of the landscape industry and garden center operations. In February of 2015 James partnered with Erik Oldberg and formed Cornerstone Landscape Studio, LLC.
With emphasis on design while partnering with you -the property owners, your needs, dreams, and expectations (within budget – there’s always a budget!), CLS hopes to provide you with living, thriving, landscape joy.
James is a plant lover who has traded in his suspenders and protractor for a pair of rubber boots and a shovel.
